Position Overview:
Harbor Health is always seeking Medical Assistants to join our per diem pools at our community health center locations including Boston and Cape Cod. The Medical Assistant assists the providers by preparing patients to be seen by collecting and recording necessary data for health, weight, medication and allergies, performs simple lab tests such as urine dipstick, take and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, performs vision testing, assist providers with simple procedures and other related duties and schedules additional laboratory tests and makes outside referral appointments as directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program. 
Required Certifications and Licenses: Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program.
Substitutions for Skills, Experience and Education: Successful completion of 1 year of an accredited Nursing Degree Program (must present official transcript), 2 years of college level health care related science courses as well as a Medical Assisting Certificate from a non-accredited school or program (i.e. hospital, community college or and adult education certificate program), CNA or Adult Education Medical Assisting Certificate Program with 2 years experience performing Medical Assistant duties in a professional setting, LPN with current license, or EMT Certification can be substituted for Medical Assistant Certification.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements: Ambulatory Care Experience preferred.
Physical Demands of the Position:
Critical Demands of the Job: Significant portions of daily assignments may involve application of manual skills requiring eye-and-hand coordination in combination with finger dexterity, Standing, stooping, lifting, bending and reaching, Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs., May be required to assist patients on to and off of exam tables, May be required to assist patients who have a mobility impairment including but not limited to: pushing a wheel chair, assisting patients with crutches or braces etc.
Shifts/Hours:
Evenings and weekends may be included.
