Login Now 534-10-18: Senior Medical Assistant Division:Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis Location:Hyannis, MA Status:Full-Time Minimum Salary: Maximum Salary: Position Overview: The Senior Medical Assistant functions as the resource medical assistant and supports the clinical nurse manager to ensure appropriate staffing as part of the medical team and assists in providing care to patients coming to HHSI. Duties include, but are not limited to: orient new medical assistants to HHSI and on-going mentoring of medical assistant staff; review and educate medical assistants on core metrics and PCMH implementation; collect and record necessary data for health, perform simple lab tests, obtain vital signs and medical history; perform vision testing; and assist; providers with simple procedures and other related duties. Duties also include: assist with scheduling and assigning medical assistants to ensure appropriate staffing; provide annual review/evaluation input to clinical nurse manager; promote positive work environment; monitor compliance of diagnostic tests (POCT) of medical assistant staff; maintain medical supply stock at par; and actively participate in PCMH initiatives representing medical assistant staff. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program, three years of medical assistant experience in community health center or ambulatory care setting, excellent customer service skills both in-person and on the telephone, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills; Computer literate, Beginner Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word & Excel. Required Certifications and Licenses: Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program. Successful completion of 1 year of an accredited Nursing Degree Program (must present official transcripts), 2 years in college level health care related science courses as well as a Medical Assistant Certificate from a non-accredited school or program ( i.e. hospital, community college or adult education certificate program, CNA or Adult Education Medical Assisting Certificate Program with 2 years of experience performing Medical Assistant duties in a professional setting, LPN with current license, or EMT Certification can be substituted for MA certification. Physical Demands of the Position: Significant portions of daily assignments may involve application of manual skills requiring eye-and-hand coordination in combination with finger dexterity, standing, stooping, lifting, bending and reaching, must be able to lift up to 15 lbs, may be required to assist patients on to and off of examine tables, may be required to assist patients who have a mobility impairment including but not limited to: pushing a wheel chair, assisting patients with crutches or braces etc.Harbor Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D.
