Position Overview:
The Activities Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and administering a comprehensive therapeutic program for seniors in an adult day health setting. The Supervisor prepares activity programs and monitors their effectiveness for participants with varying degrees of memory impairment, supervises and instructs activity staff in the performance of their work, orders equipment and supplies, attends interdisciplinary team meetings, maintains appropriate records and documentation, will supervise activity staff as added.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Human Services or related field or 4 years of related Activities experience,  2 or more years of experience in program development and implementation for a population with memory impairment of which one year must be direct work with seniors, skills in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating special activities and programs for seniors, Computer literate; must have intermediate skills in Excel, Word and Outlook, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education: Management experience in healthcare.
Physical Demands of the Position:

Must be able to demonstrate team work, enthusiasm, and effective communication, must be able to communicate sensitively to support meaningful interaction with participants, must be able to recognize the signs of distress resulting from confusion and respond by diffusing a person’s anxiety and supporting their understanding of the events they experience, ability to conduct exercises and engaging group activities, must be able to demonstrate compassion for seniors and vigilance to ensure participant safety, must be able to assist in transferring participants, must be able to assist participants who are falling, must be able push clients weighing upwards of 350 lbs in a wheel chair, must be able to lift up to 15 lbs of Activity boxes or supplies, ability to bend, stoop, and reach, ability to stand for long periods of time, fine hand-eye coordination, ability to handle animals (including, but not limited to puppies, kittens, fowls and goats).
